Thomas Moss, owner of Land Planning & Design, Inc. is a certified plantsman who provides a wide range of design expertise based on 30 years of experience as a licensed landscape contractor and architect. The complexity or simplicity of the designed is determined by the client’s needs. Every design is unique.

Consultation / Quick Sketch

Not all landscape design and architect projects require elaborate plans. Some small, site specific jobs, can be planned on site with the client standing by. Such consultations provide the client with product and plant recommendations, as well as contractor references if needed. A client usually leaves 'armed' with the knowledge needed to proceed with their project.

Construction Management

Land Planning & Design, can also assist with construction management for your landscaping design project. Sequencing events in the proper order is a must to make certain the completed project has the desired outcome. Some plans require several different trades of contractors be involved. We can recommend highly qualified local contractors, and then oversee their work to keep the project on a timely completion schedule.

Landscape Planning & Specification

Quality landscaping begins with a master plan for any project. Some projects require more detailed planning than others. Land Planning & Design, Inc., starts with an initial meeting to discuss the customers vision of the project; next is to take those details and design a plan to about 80% completion. A second meeting is scheduled to review the plan to make sure I am meeting my customer's requirements. Final touches are made to the plan before forwarding to the contractor or customer to start their landscaping project.

Some customers choose to have the plan designed in phases rather than all at once. Either way Land Planning & Design, Inc. will design a creative plan that will work for any specific need. We specialize in Land Planning NC & VA and surrounding areas of Lake Gaston.

Playgrounds & Park Construction

A portion of my work involves creating new and renovating existing playgrounds. Improvements include adding outdoor classrooms, amphitheaters, walking trails, and appropriate landscaping. All of these elements help children to reconnect to nature and provide fun, alternate ways for children to exercise. Most projects are the result of a community based input and design resulting from charrette meetings with the different groups.

Streetscape Improvements

Streetscapes are unique spaces. These areas connect all the private properties adjacent to them as well as serving as a transition to the transportation corridor. In this area, many diverse things are happening simultaneously. People are walking, entering cars, crossing the street, eating, resting, entering shops, etc. To create the proper conditions to accommodate all of these activities, several topics must be addressed.
